Nezhynska E. A. Gender tolerance as a factor of teens’ personal development
The article highlights the features of adolescence, which is characterized by the transition to a new level of self-awareness and self-concept of personality: the evaluating of adults moves to the criteria of evaluation of own actions, behavior and personality in general. However, there is a danger of assimilation of the gender stereotypes that are often exists in the parental family, and the occurrence of conflict, misunderstanding, fixing the biological differences between the genders as the basis of activities’ distribution on the level of consciousness, teen’s prejudiced attitude to the opposite gender, an inequality of genders in general as a result.
It is noted that one of the most common vectors of tolerance in studies is gender tolerance, which is an essential part of forming of teen’s ideology and acts as a factor of their personal development. Thus, the purpose of the article is to investigate the features of gender tolerance as a factor of teen’s personal development.
It is proved that one of the leading directions in adolescence is an awareness of the specific of personal position in the area of gender behavior that contributes to its formation of a social equal member of society, as a prerequisite for the formation of future citizen, family man and personality, enrichment of public consciousness by the ideas of full rights of woman and man, manifested in all areas of public life.
It is shown that society and culture with the specific gender roles affects on the formation and development of the personality. Understanding the laws of society and your place in it, awareness and understanding of gender issues, self-accepting, development of positive tolerance attitude to the other sex-based gender develop a harmonious personality.
Refusal of a differentiated approach to the education of young people depend on gender, on the relevant traditional gender expectations, taking into account a gender perspective, development of gender tolerance, prevention the occurrence of gender stereotypes in behavior and in the choice of future careers, providing benefits to potential opportunities contributes to the creation of such conditions for personal development and self-implementation of teens.
