PARTICIPATION OF UEM REPRESENTATIVES IN THE TRAINING SEMINAR OF "LEADERSHIP AND MANAGEMENT IN WAR CONDITIONS" UKRAINIAN-AUSTRIAN PROJECT

On September 11th-12th, 2023, Nataliya Muranova, Vice-rector for scientific and pedagogical work, educational work and international relations of SIHE "University of Educational Management", Larysa Olifira, Deputy Director of Central Institute of Postgraduate Education, Larysa Sergeeva and Olga Prosina, Heads of departments of Central Institute of Postgraduate Education, together with representatives of Odesa Academy of Continuing Education, Vinnytsia Academy of Continuing Education, Kyiv Regional Institute of Postgraduate Education for Pedagogical Personnel and Transcarpathian Institute of Postgraduate Pedagogical Education took part in a training seminar of "Leadership and Management in Conditions of War" Ukrainian-Austrian Project in the city of Uzhhorod.

The training seminar was organized with the support of Dominik Eisenmann, the Education Attaché of the Embassy of the Republic of Austria in Ukraine, the Commissioner for Education of the Ministry of Education, Science and Research of Austria, and OeAD (Austrian Service for International Cooperation in the Field of Education and Research) on the basis of Transcarpathian Institute of Postgraduate Pedagogical Education (Uzhhorod, Ukraine).

Concept idea of the training was dedicated to the "lessons of the crisis for the future" of educational institutionsin Ukraine.

The trainers were an experts from Austria - Evelyn Dehant-Tucheslau, a professional coach, organizational consult and school development support specialist, and Birgitt Stolba, professor of educational management, leadership, and school development at Vienna Pedagogical University.

During the training seminar, the participants got acquainted with the theoretical and methodological foundations of reflection, dialogue and discussion as important tools for strategic planning for development of an educational organization in crisis/war conditions.

Extremely valuable experience acquired by the participants during the training was:

  • practical application of reflection and dialogue technologies through the prism of solving the tasks of development of one’s own educational institution according to social challenges, in particular the "ERTO" model, the "Aquarium" and "Circle of Dialogue" methods;

  • creating open and trustworthy atmosphere to ensure effective results of reflection and dialogue processes;

  • Austrian experience with formats of work with schools, principals and school management teams; differences between professional development, professional consulting and school development consulting.

Training participants are united in their desire to integrate the acquired knowledge and experience into the practice of professional activity during critical military conditions for the future of educational institutions.
