BICPE SCIENTIFIC LIBRARY PRESENTED A VIRTUAL BOOKSHELF FOR HUMAN RIGHTS DAY

On December 10th, international community celebrates Human Rights Day. It was on this day in 1948 that the UN General Assembly adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights - the first universal international human rights act.

In its 30 articles, the Declaration enshrined civil (personal), economic and cultural rights and freedoms (equality of all before the law, everyone's right for freedom and personal integrity, freedom of conscience, and others) that all states and peoples should strive to fulfill.

The Universal Declaration of Human Rights inspired many to fight for stronger protection of human rights and contributed to their greater recognition. Its principles are the basis of numerous pacts, conventions and treaties. Many countries incorporate the basic provisions of the Declaration into their basic legislation. The fundamental principles of the Declaration were also laid down in the basis of the Constitution of our state.

On the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the BICPE scientific library prepared a virtual bookshelf on "Human Rights: Modern Dimension" (access mode: http://surl.li/obygq).

On February 24th, 2022, after the full-scale Russian invasion of our country, the life of not only Ukrainians, but also all of humanity changed. Ukraine faced particular cruelty and disrespect for human rights, among which the most unprotected was the right to life. Today, the relevance and importance of its protection are obvious, because without such a fundamental right, all other rights cease to have any meaning. Therefore, more than ever, society must unite to achieve a common goal - the protection of human rights and the creation of safe and favorable living conditions throughout the world.
