The article deals with the main ways of higher educational establishments correspondence course students self-education competence development.
The question is topical in the conditions of correspondence course students’ autonomy activation when bases of professionalism, ability to decide and operate independently are formed. The concepts ‘competence’ and ‘competency’, ‘self-education’ are considered.
A few important reasons underlining the importance of self-education role in the modern conditions of society development are outlined, such as: hi-tech informative society that is based on the speed-up producing, swift distribution and active consumption of new knowledge; the growing role of quality education that is provided by the acquiring knowledge and self-education skills development correspondence course students future managers of education; the individual and personality process of information transformation in knowledge (self-education) that becomes one of leading activity types in modern informative society. The dominant features of self-education are analyzed. The main functions (extensive, self-development, communicative, co-creative, psychological, gerontology are distinguished and characterized.
The basic forms, conditions and stages of self-education realization are carried out, as follows: motivation; diagnostic; organizational (design and planning); active (organization and coordination); reflex (results estimation, correction).
The teacher role in the process of correspondent course students’ self-education competence development at a higher educational establishment is discussed.
The question of higher educational establishments of teachers and students preparation to cooperation in the process of correspondence course students’ future managers of education self-education competence development is still in the focus for further discussion.
